The M2S packs a useful 1000-lumen fill light, more powerful motors and faster charging thanks to 12W USB-C PD. It also has an upgraded quick-release system, taken from the company’s flagship gimbals. Quick Release 4.0 uses a v-shaped design is easier to use, and there are dual safety locks to make sure your device is securely attached. The M2S weighs 549g, around 50g more than the M2, and can similarly support cameras up to around 900g, such as a Sony A7SIII with a small prime lens. The extra weight is worth it: the battery delivers around 10 hours of use (three more than the M2) and charges faster, from 0-100% in 100 minutes, when using a 12W USB-C charger with power delivery.
It’s possible to use the M2S while it’s charging, and its battery will supply up to 5V/1A directly to your phone or camera. You also get direct shutter control when connecting compatible cameras over USB. The built-in light has five brightness levels and four colour filters. It has a colour temperature of 5500K and is good for lighting around 2.8 cubic metres. Like the M2, reviewed, a small built-in screen shows the battery level and current mode.
