UPDATE: The Moto E3 has now been superseded by the Moto E4 and E4 Plus. It seems Motorola, now owned by Lenovo, has finally taken note and started using an easier to understand model naming system. So the Moto E3 means this is the third-generation of the mobile phone following the Moto E which was launched at the beginning of 2015.
Motorola Moto E3 release date, price
Announced alongside the Moto G4 Play for the UK, the Moto E3 release date is pegged at ‘early September’ for now and the Moto E3 price is £99. For reference, the Moto G Play will launch at £129.
Motorola Moto E3 specs and features
In some ways, the Moto E3 is the new Moto G since the fourth-gen devices are much bigger at 5.5in, although the Moto G4 Play is a smaller option. The phone has a 5in screen with a 720p resolution which is a nice upgrade from the 4.5in 540×960 display used previously. The Moto E3 comes with a smudge-resistant screen protector, according to the firm. The phone is now splashproof so there’s less worry about water damage if you get caught in the rain, for example. Motorola hasn’t announced detailed specs yet but we know the Moto E3 has a quad-core processor – presumably a Qualcomm Snapdragon – 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage and a Micro-SD card slot for adding up to 128GB more. The phone’s specs also feature an 8Mp rear camera, 5Mp front camera and a 2800mAh battery to provide a full day of usage. As you would expect, it comes pre-loaded with Android Marshmallow and we assume an update to version 7.0 Nougat will be on the cards.
